“Is it worth it to go to church this week?” Sometimes we all ask it.
Apparently we aren’t the first.
The author of Hebrews had the same problem in mind. He exhorted Christians not to forsake corporate worship (Hebrews 10:24-25). And he gave a reason: to provoke one another to love and good works.
When the Sunday gathering seems to become less meaningful to you—as it will from time to time—we have a solution:
To regain our zeal we must remember our purpose: we gather to exhort and encourage each other.
If you came to church and went home bored, I want to ask you something: Did you exhort or encourage someone? If that’s your purpose, and you’re not doing it, you will be bored.
“And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus” (Acts 5:42).
Christians proclaim Jesus every chance they get.
Why? Because he is Savior and Lord! We do well to lift him up always.
Praise ye the Lord! Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints! (Psalm 149:1)
